Sunday;:The Team departed Auckland on Sunday 22nd, all excited for their trip. Team captain Nick reported in from Dubai Airport that they had safely arrived at the first stop of their trip to Venice airport, Italy. Monday: Team arrived safely at venice and were whisked to the sports village by a WAKO car. the team weighed in, Nemo had a weight issue and had put on weight over the flight, after a hard run he came in under weight. Josh had a problem with the Doctors following his Blood pressure showing high and a recent bought of the cold. the WAKO Doctors were concerned as to the BP and his recent illness, but gave him the all clear although if he wins his first bought, he needs to weigh in again and will have a doctors check, so they will keep an eye on him. Team captain Nick reported the accomodation was very good. Tuesday: The team enjoyed a visit to venice today to relax and enjoy the beutiful city sights. Wednesday: Team captain Nick had a coaches/captains meeting in the morning and the draw was around midday. All the teams met at the Sports hall for the opening ceremony. Fight match ups: Thursday - Nick Feisst (NZ) v Kristian Jaroszkievicz (Hungary)
- Nemanya Sedoglavich (NZ) v Timmy Sarantoudis (Germany) or rafik Prazmo (Hungary) they will fight first.
- Josh Clarke (NZ) v Tomasz Pietraszewski (Poland)
Results of the fights: Nick Feisst lost in the 2nd Round of Semi-Contact Points to who is the present European Champion. Nemanya Sedoglavich fought Timmy Sarantoudis of Germany after Sarantoudis dispatched Prazmo from Hungary the previous night, losing to the German on points in the 2nd round of SEmi-Contact Points. Josh Clarke fought the full 3 rounds of a Full Contact Ring Sports fight against Polands Tomasz Pietraszewski losing on a points decision. The Team are all now out of the competition. NZ are very proud of the three members representing us, unfortunataly this year the team was depleted by the Recession. The Team departs Venice airport on Sunday the 29th and will be back in NZ a few days later after a stop over in Dubai. One member, Nemanya will be flying onto Boston (USA) to take up a new work position there. 2010 Junior World championships: WAKO (NZ) is about to finalise its decisions on the Junior team to compete in Serbia 2010. |
